mock up of my feautred article.

This is a mock up of that i would like my featured article to be like. As you can see i have thought about the layout very carefully and also looked at other magazines to see how they are layed out. On my featured article i am only going to use two photos of my artist as i dont want it to look to busy.

Mock up of my contents page

Here is a mock up of my contents page. I have decided to have a coloured background filled with photos of my artist and other artist such as JLS. My contents isnt boxed like and is more random which is different to other magazines contents pages.

props, costume and location.

Costumes..
i have had a few ideas on what my artist should wear for my photo shoot. My artist is going to have four different looks about them which are;

  • A bad girl look - the artist will wear a black playsuit and lots of jewlerry. Her make-up will be mainly dark eyes. Her hair will be messy and have different styles into it such as crimped and big.
  • Retro look - she will wear washed out jeans, leaotard and retro sunglasses. The make-up will be quite natural as it is based during the day an the hair pinned up.
  • Innocent look - This shot will be in girly pj's with quite natural make-up and hair put up like the artist has just got out of bed. This shot will be a photo strip.

and for my final shot of my artist will be the cover shot which will be just a natural shot of the artist.

Prop..

Now i have chosen what my artist will look like i now have to think about what props will work well with the costume. I have chosen to use an old fashioned car for the retro look as i think it would work well, i have easy access to an old fashioned car as my dad has one. For the innocent look i am going to use a bed and the shot will be taken from a birds eye view. i will also use pillows.

Location..

The location of my photoshots is very important as they make the look of the artist real. For my bad girl look i wish to use a brick wall hopefully down a back alley. For my retro look as i am using a car i need to think about what location would be appropriate and so i will shoot this section on a road or a field. The innocent look will be shot in a girly bedroom. The cover of my magazine will be shot anywhere and then put onto a white background for the se of studio look.

Mock up of Cover

Below is a mock up of the cover of my Girly pop magazine.
The mock up of my cover includes the heading of my magazine Music Show Off which i have chosen for it to relate to music bt also fashion. As you can see the title of my magazine is on to lines which is breaking the rules and so when doing my actual cover i wil make the title fit onto one like. The image of my artist is bigger than the rest of the things on my magazine, this is done to make the audience become farmiliar with the magazine. You cant really tell which is the main story of my magaizne on the cover as all the headings are the same size so when doing my cover i will think about this and make the main story (relating o the artist on the cover) bolder and more clear to my audience. My magazine is combined with music and fashion so to show this on my cover i have used different sub headings such as; 'get the indie look' and my artist also shows her fashion side.
After looking at my mock up i have decided that my main story needs to be more effective than just 'official interview with FANTASY and her new album JUST ME' it needs to relate to the artist and sound more appealing to my audience.

Feedback - 6/12/09

Good progress Leanne- well done! Some interesting research and planning on here. Keep blogging for homework!

Research: Look at audience figures for similar magazines

research your chosen genre of music - put music videos on your blog etc...

Audience - use Msslow's Hierarchy of need to examine how your magazine will appeal to its audience.

Planning:

- It might be nice to outline your artist and their image - and why they are good to be the featured artists in your magazine

- Now that you have written your feature article - put it onto your blog also.

- once done- put your drawn mock -ups of your pages on here

- you could also go online to dafont and look and analyse the connotations of fonts - that you might use for your header (name of magazine) and throughout your magazine.

- see your 'before you blog sheet' for the other planning you can do!

Shots.

Before desinging my artist i need to think about what style they should wear and how to pose them in my photo shoot. I am using Pixie Lott as an example on how to design my artist as i think she has got a good fashion style and all her photoshoots are really interesting on the way she poses. Below are some examples of what i am thinking about when doing my photo shoot.

I like this style of shoot because it is nothing to bizarre and also doesn't break any rules for magazines. Pixie Lott is staring into the camera which drags the buyer into the magazine, i will think about this when doing my photo shoot. I don't think think will be a good image for a cover as it isn't really showing anything but would be a good image for a feature article.

This is my favourite shot out of my examples because it is taken in a good location and the location is really effective to what Pixie Lott is wearing. When doing my shoot i am going to use a location like this one as it shows a sort of dark side towards the artist. The clothing she is wearing also reveals her dark side and colourful clothing would not look good in this location.

This shot of her is really good and the use of prop works well so when thinking about my photo shoot rather just thinking about clothing i also need to think about the use of location and prop. This image would look good on a featured article or contents page put not cover as it isn't close up to the artist and the use of prop wouldn't work.

This photo shot is perfect for a cover of a magazine and would work well as it is a close up of the artist. The pose works well with the artist and the background and outfit also work well together.

After looking at Pixie Lott and the way she has been shot to work well for a magazine i now have an idea of what i want my artist to look like and how to be posed. As i am going to use four photographs in my magazine i need to dress my artist in four different outfits each giving the audience a different feel to the artist.

Mood Board

After researching several different music magazine and after choosing my genre of music, which is girly pop, i am now going to start planning it.
Before going straight into producing my magazine i need to have some ideas so i created a mood
board which shows fonts and images from other magazines that caught my eye.
Mood Board:

As you can see i have used alot of images of female models on my mood board this is because my target audience for my magazine is females as it is a girly pop magazine. i have used retro style of clothing as i want my model to look fashionable and seem a role model for teenaged girls. The use of mis en scene is what i also looked for when finding good examples to put on my mood board. I really like the use of mis en scene of the model propped up against a tree as it looks unique, when doing my photo shoot i will think about what location would relate well to the artist. i have also looked at fonts and colour when making my mood board, i like the style of 'THE REAL FASHION STORY' as the font is original and i would like to use this sort of font on my cover magazine for my sub headings. For my heading of my magazine i have thought about using the font used on my mood board, 'MISS DIOR' this is because i think it would relate well to the genre of music. It is really girly because it has been worte in ribbon style.
